Together with the scientific research center focused on laser technology ELI Beamlines, the organizers want to celebrate this year’s International Day of Light with a symbolic monumental installation in the center of Prague.
The laser beam crosses Prague through the view from Petřín Lookout Tower to the seat of the Academy of Sciences, which is the founder of the ELI Beamlines research center. Together, we will commemorate 61 years since the American physicist and engineer Theodore Maiman successfully launched the world’s first laser system. Thanks to his invention, fields such as medicine, biology, communication or thermonuclear fusion are constantly advancing.
With this ray of light, the organizers also want to symbolically thank mainly science and all scientists around the world. It is science that is fundamentally improving life on planet Earth and with their incredible commitment, scientists are also helping us overcome the global pandemic caused by Covid-19.
