Lednice-Valtice Area - Introduction

The Lednice-Valtice complex – one of the treasures from the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List – covers an area of 283.09 km2, including exceptional historical buildings, gems of garden architecture, lakes and a dense network of cycling paths, and is considered the largest landscaped territory in Europe.

Between the 17th and 20th centuries the ruling Dukes of Liechtenstein transformed their domains into one huge park, where the baroque and neo-gothic architecture of their chateaux are married with smaller buildings and a landscape that was fashioned according to the English principles of landscape architecture.
