The Armed Forces Day in the Czech Republic commemorates the date of 30 June 1918 when Czech representative Edvard Benes informed a unit of Czechoslovak volunteers in Darney, France, that the Government of France had acknowledged the right for Czechs and Slovaks to form an independent state, the Czechoslovak Republic.
