On May 1 2008 the first tour will leave into the underground graphite mine in Český Krumlov. A trip aboard a mine train for the hour-long tour beneath the town and the surrounding area is a great family activity. The tour route measures over two kilometres.
Springtime in Český Krumlov is also all about exhibitions. The year 2008 will be all about the Olympic Games in Beijing. The Egon Schiele Art Centre in Český Krumlov is using this opportunity in cooperation with the Czech National Gallery, the National Gallery in Beijing, private galleries, collectors and artists to hold a series of exhibitions linking classical art and contemporary works from Europe and Asia. There will be exhibitions of Chinese art, photographs by Jindřich Štreit and a retrospective on Jiří Surůvka. The project will also see Chinese artists working at studios in Český Krumlov.
The exhibitions will take place in a space measuring over 3000m² in the existing exhibition hall in the former municipal brewery and for the first time in a unique Renaissance loft space within the brewery complex.
