trip planner Jacob Canter: Rosa rosensis

translated by Jakub Šimek
A poem celebrating the Rosenberg dynasty performed by Dyškanti ensemble members and guests. The poem had world premiere last year during the Five-petal Rose Celebrations. The entire poem will be read during this musical drama as well as period music. The music has been selected by the ensemble leader Martin Horyna who is also the director of the piece. The Dyškanti ensemble from České Budějovice focuses mainly on authentic interpretation of vocal and instrumental music of the 15th and 16th centuries. The ensemble´s repertoire benefits from the scientific work of Martin Horyna who is a musical historian and author of a number of publications on Czech musical history. A linguist Jakub Šimek belongs to ensemble members. Having studied German at Heidelberg University, he also translates Latin poetry, having already published two books on this subject. This performance will be held in co-operation with the Český Krumlov State Castle and Chateau and the Baroque Theatre Foundation of the Český Krumlov Castle.
