Festive overture – artistically conceived musical fairy-tale play

Czech Festive overture, hudebně obrazová féerie

Festive Overture – artistically conceived musical fairy-tale play Gipsy Devils (Slovakia) Christiane Noll and Hugh Panaro (USA) – vocals Jiří Bárta (Czech Republic) – violoncello Sooyeon Kim (South Korea) – soprano Gypsy Devils is the name of a unique group of musicians who have, since 1991, achieved something what only a few in Central Europe have achieved. The Gypsy Devils orchestra is not a folklore Roma group of enthusiastic amateurs but it is a renowned group of eight professionals, brilliant musicians with classical training. Christiane Noll starred on Broadway in the Kennedy Center Revival of Ragtime, receiving Tony and Drama Desk award nominations and winning a Helen Hayes award for her portrayal of Mother. Hugh Panaro is critically lauded and adored by fans. He demonstrates versatility, charisma, tremendous vocal talent, and movie star good looks. The most respected Czech cellist of the present time, Jiří Bárta studied his instrument with Josef Chuchro and Mirko Škampa in Prague, and with Boris Pergamenschikow in Cologne. He was won prestigious honours in many international competitions including the Rostropovich-Hammer Award in Los Angeles. Soprano Sooyeon Kim, a native of South Korea has captured the world’s audience’s attention with her silvery and luscious lyric voice. She studied at Juilliard School and at Indiana University in the United States.
